I've been tagged!

I've been tagged by are the questions and my answers:

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?
Wrapping paper for people who live in my house; gift bags for everyone else. Mainly because I've got tons of gift bags, and am trying to get rid of them!

2. Real or Artificial tree?
Artificial, because I like to have the tree up a long time, and don't have to worry about it drying out or the cats clawing at it and peeing on it.

3. When do you put up the tree?
Usually Thanksgiving week, but I haven't done it yet this year...I'm dreading the toddler vs. the tree antics that are bound to ensue. Putting it up this weekend though.

4. When do you take the tree down?
A couple of days after looks so sad with nothing underneath.

5. Do you like Eggnog?

6. Favorite Gift you received as a child?
Hmmm...that's a tough one. I remember being thrilled with a record player (the old kind that came in a case and played 78s, 45s, and 33s)...I think I was about 5 years old when I got that.

7. Do you have a nativity scene?
Several...the one we had when I was growing up, a Fisher Price set for Rachel to play with, and an animated one that I don't have out yet.

8. Hardest person to buy for?
Usually I'd say my stepdaughters, but they actually gave us a wish list this year.

9. Easiest person to buy for?
Definitely Rachel...she's too young to be picky.

10. Worst Christmas gift ever received?
Oh, that would probably have to be a case of toilet paper from my grandma...she likes to give practical gifts.

I'm tagging Sharon and Sharon, LOL!

Had a dentist appt this morning...a piece of my temporary crown came off on Monday. It doesn't bother me, but they said call us if any comes out. So I drag Rachel down to the office, only to have them look at it and say it's not a problem. Let's all say 'waste of time' together! Still going back after New Year's for the permanent one...what fun, can't wait!

I finally managed to get the Christmas Around the World blog train downloaded...I'm still missing a few goal during Rachel's naptime today is to see what I still need to snag and then make back-ups. I also need to go finish up the Whimsical Wonderland mega, and then MooTwo has their birthday blog train this weekend...I need to make lots of room on my hard drive!

Oh! CompUSA is closing its doors...everything is on sale. I almost want to cry...don't have the extra money to go shopping over there! We popped in a week or so ago and they had a bunch of Wacom bamboo tablets...I told DH that would be a nice gift for his wife, since the laptop is on hold for awhile. We'll see. Actually, yesterday I told him we should just hold off on gifts for each other for awhile anyway. I'd rather get all of our bills taken care of, get the kids their gifts, and then see what we've got left over. With the new truck and my dental bills, we don't have lots of extra spending money. But that's ok...we really don't need anything anyway.

Well, I might not have done any Christmas shopping, but I've got a goodie for all of you. Hope you like it! Here's a sneak peek:

Oh the weather outside is frightful...

Well, it certainly was frightful! We've gotten hammered here this week. Sunday evening, it started sleeting, and as we were getting ready to go to bed, our power went out. So DH and I got a naked Rachel out of bed...she had stripped off her jammies AGAIN...we got her dressed in her footie pj's and she ended up sleeping in our bed to keep warm. Hubby and Rachel slept well, but I didn't sleep at all...not even for a minute. For one, the two of them left me with very little room, and second, I was afraid I'd roll over on her. And finally, DH was snoring a bit too much...well, more like whistling. So come Monday morning I was tired and grouchy.

Thankfully, our power came back on at about 5:30 Monday morning. I hopped up and turned off things that didn't need to be one, and put Rachel back in her own bed. Unfortunately, I couldn't fall asleep, and so I layed on the couch and watched storm footage. Things were going from bad to worse. We lost power again for a few hours, and then it came back on. DH had to go to work, so that left Rachel and I at home to deal with whatever happened. Our power went out again at about 8:45 Monday night. That really was the pits...our house was cold, my car was completely covered in more than an inch of ice, the ground and roads were like skating rinks.

Unfortunately, there was a rather large tree limb or two laying on the roof right over my bed, and so I didn't think it would be a good idea to bring Rachel into our room. So, I got to sleep on the floor of her room. Not too comfy, but I wanted her close. She was covered in warm fuzzy blankets and so she was comfortable enough. I on the other hand was not...the worst thing was that every time I heard a noise, I jumped. Trees were coming down, limbs were cracking, and I wanted to make sure they weren't about to come down on us. The power came back on about an hour later, and I was SO glad...but it only lasted about 5 minutes. I was looking out of her bedroom window and saw sparks and flames shooting up from behind a neighbor's house. I called 911, and then the transformer behind her house started having a series of exposions, and then all was dark and quiet again. All in all, I got about 5 hours of sleep on Monday night.

We were SO blessed to have only suffered the inconvenience of not having power for a short while...there are still at least 100,000 homes without any electricity, and some without water, because the water treatment plants don't have electricity either.

Here are some photos I took around the house.

I've got a new freebie uploaded, but I haven't made a preview for it yet...I'll try to get that done this week and post it for you guys. That is, unless we lose power again! We're due for a possible snowstorm on Friday, so we'll see!

Tired and a freebie

I could rant about something tonight, but I'm too tired, and no need to beat that proverbial dead horse anymore anyways.
I finally managed to put together a few of the Christmas goodies I've been working on. There's more to come, but I wanted to go ahead and share these pieces with you.
Here's the preview:
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
There are three angels, each with a different skin tone; a baby Jesus in the manger; and one background paper that isn't shown in the preview. I don't know what color an heavenly angel would be, other than so bright I couldn't bear to see it. But I do know that there are some truely angelic people out there, and they come in all races, shapes, and sizes. Merry CHRISTmas to all of you.
LOL, almost forgot the link! You can grab it here.
I'm off to bed, have a great week everyone!

Busy time of year

ROFL...and I thought I'd do better's been a month! Why am I not really surprised?
It's been a really busy month for our family. We went on vacation the first full week of November, and had a great time. It's the first 'real' vacation we've taken as a family. We stayed in Houston with mom for a few days, and went to the Texas Renaissance Festival. I hadn't been in about 20 years, but it was wonderful! I took LOTS of photos, and I've scrapped a handful of them, but have alot more to get done. Take a peek:

And a few layouts I've done...this first one was done with K Designs' Tapestry kit from Seaside Scraps:

And here are a couple more...these are done with Rebecca Myers' Renaissance Festival kit (how perfect could that be for these pics, LOL!!)

We stayed and had some family time for a couple of days, and then hit the road to San Antonio. I never looked at S.A. as a vacation was always more like a weekend getaway, but it really felt like a vacation. We visited the Alamo (of course) and the Riverwalk (which really is beautiful), and also managed to visit all but one of the old historic missions, but we plan to go back in a year or so and take Rachel to Sea World (who am I kidding---I want to go to Sea World!) The SA Botanical Gardens are having a Dora & Diego thing going on through the winter, but we missed out. I really wanted Rachel to go see it, as she LOVES Dora with a passion, but money and time weren't on our side. Here are some SA pics and LOs:

And finally, from a stop at Old Ft. Parker on the way home:

If you're a history lover, this is an interesting little side trip in the Waco area.
Ft. Parker was built in the early 1800s, and it was basically the homestead of the Parker family; the fort was for protection against the Comanches. In 1836, the Comanches raided the fort, and kidnapped 9 yr old Cynthia Ann Parker. She was raised by Comanches, and ended up marrying their chief Nocona. She was the mother of Quanah Parker, the last great free Comanche chief, who eventually led his people onto the reservation in Indian Territory. Cynthia Ann and her 4 yr old daughter Prairie Flower were re-captured by her family when she was in her thirties. She didn't adapt well to the white world of her family, and she and her daughter both died within a few years. Her son took his mother's last name and was a great leader for his people. Enough of the history lesson, but if you're interested, there is a WONDERFUL book about this story entitled Ride the Wind by Lucia St. Clair Robson.

Finally, I've been doing some scrapping of other pics, some for fun, some for CT. Take a look...this is from Rachel's first Christmas...I can't get over how much she's changed, and how fast time has flown!

I did this LO with SeAScrApS' Santa's Workshop from ScrappinFreestyle. Speaking of Santa, we're going to try to visit him on Monday...hope the mall isn't a zoo!

This LO is of Jordan, a family friend who visited us over the summer on her first vacation. These pics are from the lake, and I think they came out very well.

This is scrapped with Demiurgia Designs' Radiolaria kit from Seaside Scraps. I thought this was a really neat kit...I love the designs in it! I used an Andrea Gold template for that one as well.

Finally, my little diva, playing dress up. I can't wait until she's old enough to wear the dress up princess dresses and heels, LOL...I'll be drowning in frou-frou!
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
This one is scrapped with Rebecca Myers' Dress Up from Seaside Scraps, and the frame cluster is Rebecca's as should be on sale in the SSS shop very shortly.

I guess that's enough of that. Let's see, what else? Oh yeah, while we were in San Antonio, I broke my tooth out, it's that lovely! So the first Monday we were home, I got to go to the dentist. I got to finance a crown, a bridge, and a few fillings...whoopee. Please note the sarcasm. Insurance is covering some, but not all. I get to go back in early January for the permanent crown and bridge. What else??? We got a new (well, new to us) Dodge Ram. We traded in my OLD Corolla, which had over 150,000 miles on it. DH is loving the truck, and so is Rachel...I think because she can see so much better from up high. My stepdaughters' miniature donkey broke her leg and had to have surgery. Don't know how she managed to do it, but she did, poor thing. Thanksgiving was pretty quiet, and we didn't go in for all of the Black Friday hubbub. Christmas will be scaled back, but that's fine. We really don't need anything anyway. DH was going to buy me a laptop, but with the new truck, that's not happening (boo-hoo). Oh well, there's always birthday and mother's day, LOL.

I've been playing at making some Christmas goodies for you guys. I have them, but need to get them all packaged up and then I'll post them for you. I'll give you a hint...HARK. That's all you get for now, LOL. Off to get some work done, God bless!

Long time no, pics, and more pics

Good grief...I knew I wouldn't post every day, but thought I could manage once a week. Guess not, LOL! Things have just been so hectic around here lately...guess that happens to all of us.
I'm finding that the older Rachel gets, the less time I have to get online...a laptop would certainly come in handy! It's difficult to find time to squirrel away in the office when there's a toddler in the house.
What have we been up to?...We finally got our coffee table and end tables, praise the Lord! Took about a month, but we've got em, and Rachel can't tip them over, woohoo!
Here are some pics from the Centennial Parade...I have yet to scrap any of them yet...just haven't felt inspired to do it yet...

I'm a big Dr. Seuss fan, so had to take these pics of Horton & the Cat in the Hat.

I love the Native American dance finery...

Finally, Miss America Lauren Nelson...we've seen her twice in the past couple months.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

We did have a good time, and have finally caught the parade on DVD...for posterity's sake more than anything else. This next month is the big Centennial concert and fireworks show...looking forward to that.
Also in November, the first of OKC's new river taxis should be arriving. They won't be in full operation until sometime in the spring, but I think it'll be great fun. It'll be a 45 minute ride, and once the American Indian Cultural Center opens on the river next year, it should be very convenient for us to just hop on the boat and head to the museum & Bricktown.

So much for all of that! The end of October brings 2 things to mind...Rachel's birthday, and Halloween costumes. Rachel's birthday was over the weekend, and boy did she enjoy herself! Her sisters, niece and NiNi (forget Nana, it's NiNi when she says it, LOL) were there. DH grilled burgers, and we had dinner and then let her open up her presents. Her favorite thing, by far, was a set of dishes, cups, and flatware. That's about all she's wanted to play with since. She even took one of the cups to bed with her! If she gets a snack, she'll dump it out of whatever it's put on, and put it on one of her play dishes...she's really enjoying them. So, NiNi has decided to get her a toy kitchen set for Christmas...she'll be in hog heaven then, I'm sure!
Here are some party pics:

Finally, we went to a Halloween carnival at OSU-OKC last week...Rachel does not like scary costumes or masks of any kind! She got some candy, and tried to give it to everyone else! The next day, we went to Storybook Forest and she was able to go meet lots of different fairy tale characters, and trick or treat there...she did learn what those trick or treat pumpkins were for! I was impressed though...while some kids where grabbing HANDFULS of candy, and leaving not much for everyone else, Rachel would reach in and take one, and only one...which is good, since I didn't really want her to have much candy anyway. We ended up giving most of it to her sisters, and she kept the lollipops. Here she is in the costume that NiNi made for her...

I scrapped it with Tracy Drane's 50s Diner kit:

Finally, I've been working on my family heritage book for the Lifepreserver Chat at Seaside's every Wednesday night at 8 CST (except for this chat due to the holiday). I did this entymology LO using Cheryl Whitesel's Josie I'm thinking of doing another one, but with family names. Time to go do some research into Coat of Arms!

Hugs to yall...and I'll try to do better about posting!

What a weekend!

Well, I never got time to post my goodie that I kept talking about last week, so I'm doing it soon as it gets through 4shared, anyway.
We had SUCH a busy, but busy. We spent Saturday at Orr Family Farm...Rachel had her first pony ride, first train ride, and first hayride. We also visited their barnyards and let her pet the animals, got some pumpkins in the pumpkin patch, and rode the carousel. It was a beautiful day, and we had a lot of fun. Afterwards, she went and spent the night with her big sisters...haven't had a quiet night around here in a long time! I got some cleaning done, and some scrapping done, and got to sleep in until nearly 9 o'clock...woohoo!
Here are some pics that I took at the farm...I scrapped them with Cheryl Whitesel's Farmer Kid kit from Seaside Scraps...I LOVE this kit! The only thing I want to go and buy the Farmer Girl kit that goes along with's basically the same, but in pink and brown...sigh...we'll see how bills go!

Sunday was the big Oklahoma Centennial Parade here in OKC...we went and had a good time. I've got nearly 200 photos to go through...lots of scrapping to do too!!!

Seaside Scraps is giving away a free kit with a $10 purchase this month...I wasn't going to do it, but caved in this weekend, LOL. It's an awesome kit...and this from someone who isn't all that big on Halloween. Check out what Rebecca is giving away:

Isn't that the cutest??? We never did jack-o-lanterns or any of the scary stuff, but her kit was too cute for me to pass up.

Time to go for promises on my next post...think I've finally learned my lesson on that!

CT News

Hi peoples! Well, I didn't get back on Tuesday with a template, but I'll post one today. But first for a bit of venting!
Let's see...on Saturday, we finally went out and bought our coffee and end table. We've been without for awhile, and finally had enough extra cash to get the one that I liked. We waited almost an hour in the pick-up lane at Mathis Brothers before we got our furniture, and when it was finally our turn (right before the store closed), someone else tried to take our spot. The wife started griping at DH, and he told her too bad, we've been waiting in line! She got all huffy...didn't realize that there even was a line. He pointed it out to her, and there were quite a few cars waiting, and that made her even more ticked off. Oh well.
We got the tables home, opened up the boxes, and started putting them together, only to find that one of the legs had been cut incorrectly, and the coffee table could not be put together. So on Sunday, we were at the store when they opened so that we could exchange it for a table that was cut correctly. Unfortunately, we were told that they had no more in stock, and had no idea when or if they would be getting any more. I asked about the floor models, and was told they wouldn't be sold until the items were officially closed out. So...we had to go back home, take apart the end table, and return it too. There was NO way I was going to pay good money and end up with mismatched tables.
We finally picked out another set, only to find it's backordered until next week. So we're still without tables, but at least we got our money back.
On Sunday evening, the lawn mower decided to give out. Monday morning, we had to get the muffler on DH's car fixed. On Tuesday morning, we took the mower into the repair shop, only to find that repairs would cost more than we paid for the machine in the first place. So we went to Walmart and bought one of the 3 mowers they still had in stock.
And then yesterday morning, my monitor up and died. It's only a year and a half old! I was SO not happy! DH has been wanting/needing a new one...he needs a wider screen so that he can enlarge the print, so I took his old one, and we went and bought him a new monitor last night.
So now I'm kind of glad we haven't gotten the tables yet...we've had to shell out money here and there, and we'd have been broke if we'd not gotten our money back on them. So I consider that as the Lord using a bad situation for good in our household.

LO share:  Here's a new layout I did Helen Ehrenhofer's Heirloom kit, which she offered as a freebie during the GDS designer contest.

I'm off to scrap. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

I've been spotlighted!

I got an email over the weekend asking if I'd mind being the October spotlighted member over at ScrappinDigiKreations! Well, of course I don't mind! How cool is that?? Here's the link to the thread:
From what I gather, anyone who scraplifts one of my LOs in their gallery will get a posting bonus, which is pretty cool. Also, there's a running Q and A, so if you want to ask a question, go ahead and I'll TRY to answer it!

Here's one of my new layouts, using SeAsCrApS' Daddy's Girl kit from ScrappinFreestyle. This is one of my favorite layouts!

Autumn, naptime, and shopping

Well, it's finally cooled down, temperature-wise, that is. This morning it was warm and muggy, and this afternoon, it's in the upper 60s, breezy, and a bit wet. I'm thrilled...I just hope that autumn sticks around for awhile. I love it when I can turn off the AC and the heat, open up the windows, and enjoy the fresh air. Of course this year will be a bit different, because whenever I open up a window, Rachel tends to push the screen out...I don't want my daughter falling out of the window! I guess I'll have to keep them opened just an inch or two, but still, it will feel SO much better!
I'm hoping that one of the girls will watch her for me at some point this weekend...I've got an urge to do some major cleaning (the weather change always does that to me). I'd love to be able to get everything sanitized, deodorized, and sparkling. We're planning on picking up the new tables this weekend, and it's time to start pulling out the fall would be nice if the house was clean for such an event.
Today was also the start of another children's consignment sale...this one is in Yukon. I wasn't all that impressed...they have ALOT of stuff, but the prices are higher than at the other sales I've been to. I did pick up a pair of satin jammies for Rachel, although she'll have to grow into them. I also snagged a pair of snowboots that match her winter coat. But my favorite grab was a slide for the munchkin...which reminds me...if she ever falls asleep, I need to go get it out of the car. I've been wanting to get her some play equipment, and the slide was in great condition, and only $15...I couldn't resist.

Oh well, guess my time is up for now...she has STILL not fallen asleep...and it's been almost an hour. Time for this mommy to get going. I certainly won't promise to get back here this week, but I'll be back next Tuesday at the latest. Have a great week, y'all!

Tuesday, September 18, 2007

What a day!!!

Ugggh...what a day it's been! Rachel chose NOT to take a nap today...I was not very pleased with that! She's been ornery, cranky, and grouchy all afternoon. DH and I ended up putting her to bed before 7 o'clock, and she cried for a few minutes and has been quiet ever since. She generally sleeps an hour and a half during the day, which gives me time to scrap, read, whatever. I'm hoping that she will sleep really well tonight.
We did go looking for coffee tables again this morning. I found a couple that were really nice, but I just can't see paying $450 for a coffee table and 1 end table. That's just not in the budget. I've got to drag DH around to the stores over the weekend to get his opinion. I personally liked the more affordable sets that I found at Mathis Brothers, but he didn't like them. He DID like one set that I found over there, but we'll have to go back and see if it's still was on clearance, so no guarantees. It'll just be nice to have a coffee table again. I'm going to go ahead and trash that old grungy end table too. I guess it's not old...2 years...but it was cheap and not well made. We need something STURDY!, and no glass at all. So we'll see.
I got mom's Grandparent's Day/Birthday present/supplies for Rachel's Halloween costume sent off. I made her a scrapbook, we sent her a check, and then quite a few patterns and the fabric, etc for Rachel's poodle skirt. I can't wait to get it back! I bought Tracy's 50's Diner kit at Make It Scrappy just for that costume!

I've gotten quite a few LOs done, and I'm going to try to post a couple of them later, as well as pics from the State Fair on Saturday. We had alot of fun, and I am hoping to get back over there before it closes. I'm off to find a layout that's disappeared!

Not surprised, and a freebie or two

Well, it's been a week since I've gotten on my blog, and am I surprised? No! I'm doing better than I ever did with a least I can say that! How many of those cheap diaries from the grocery store did I get as a kid? The kind that had the dinky little key...and you could use ANY diary key (or hairpin) to open? Lots, let me tell you! I think I might have put one entry in each one, and then forgot about it. I just never was one for journaling, which is funny, since I enjoy writing. I guess I always thought that my life was too boring to put on paper. Now I'm just wishing I had time to put pen to paper for Rachel's sake, LOL. Speaking of, she's pretty ticked that I'm on the computer right now...she wants mommy's attention. But DH is home, and they need some time together (and mommy wants a few minutes to post!)

Thank you, Leslie, for nominating me as a Rockin' Girl Blogger...bad me just getting around to snagging it and uploading it to photobucket.
I'm tagging Sharon Kay, SusanJ, MonaLisa, and Demiurgia...Shell, I'd tag you, but I know you've already been tagged at least once!

Well, it's chat time at to run for now...I'll try to pop back in and post another template in a bit...but no promises!

Best intentions...

Goodness, a new week has begun. Bad blogger here...I knew I wouldn't blog every day, but shame on's been since Thursday! Oh well...I've got my excuses.
Rachel had a doctor's appointment on Friday morning, and it ran long. End result...she's got a rash on her face, and her binky's the culprit. So out they went...and out went alot of sleep for all of us! She was MISERABLE on Friday...wouldn't take a nap, and barely slept that night. However, she's done very well since then...she took a nap Saturday and Sunday, and slept 11 hours straight both nights. She decided not to take a nap today, though...I'm hoping that she'll be so worn out tonight that she'll let me scrap and get some sleep.
I finally got back to making my back-up CDs...I seriously need to clean out some space on my HD!
We took a trip to 75% Off Books, only to find that they have closed up shop...the lack of decent bookstores here really frustrates me. I'm lobbying for Half Price Books to open up a store in Oklahoma! That's one thing to look forward to in Houston...raiding the used bookstore...still have lots of credit at Twice Told Tales, and I plan on using up a bunch of it on my next trip down.

Okay, wow, it's getting late...I've got to go get dinner, he's getting leftovers unless he wants to cook. I'm determined to post tomorrow...I've got a template or two to share. Until then, ciao and God bless.

Grabbing a few minutes to myself

We've got a busy day ahead, so I thought I'd pop in for a minute while I could. I've got to take a bunch of Rachel's old winter clothes to the church this morning...the annual consignment sale starts tomorrow and I hope to get rid of alot of her stuff! That's probably my other addiction (along with digi, lol)...consignment sales! There are 4 or 5 in our area every spring and fall, and I LOVE going to them, but this is the first time I've ever put anything in them. We're still donating most of her stuff to Infant Crisis Services or Goodwill, but if I can sell some, it will help me out alot, especially since I'm not working anymore.

Oh well, time for this mommy to log off...someone's awake, and DH should be walking in the door momentarily. Talk to yall later, and happy scrapping!

Tuesday, September 4, 2007

Well, I knew I'd end up missing days on my blog...didnt' realize it would happen so quickly though! It's kind of funny...when you're a kid, those long holiday weekends are can play and enjoy! Now that I'm an adult and a parent, those long weekends usually mean more work. DH did manage to get the house painted, and the color looks really good. Still need to get the trim painted, and the deck stained and sealed, but that will have to wait. We had planned on doing it this weekend, but the forecast says rain rain rain, and possibly more flooding. I think we've had enough of that around here lately.
The trail at the lake is still closed...some of it was washed away during TS Erin, from the looks of things. I am still really disturbed about the high school student drowning after the storm...I've heard nothing about anything happening to the teacher. I'd like to know how in the world a track coach can send students running around a flooded lake WITHOUT any can't leave students unsupervised, let alone send them outside in the conditions that we had here at that point.
Back to my house though...Rachel's being an ornery toddler. She's refusing to eat much of anything right now...thank the Lord for PB and's one of the few things I can get her to eat (other than getting bits of junk food from daddy...but that's another ramble there). I managed to pull something in my shoulder, and have been near tears today when I move the wrong way...or when it goes into spasms. Not good...try picking up a near-30 pound wiggleworm without putting any strain on your shoulders....hmmm...maybe that's how I hurt myself in the first place!

For those who haven't heard about Pops, it's located on Route 66....the news media consider it the newest landmark along the Mother Road. It's located just west of the Round Barn (which I still need to scrap, lol) in Arcadia, OK (N of OKC). The building itself is glass, and the walls are lined with all different kinds of soda. They sell nearly 500 different types, although when we went, they had sold out of almost everything. We were told that they restock every night, but had such a tremendous response that they were going to be increasing their orders, so hopefully next time we'll have a bigger selection. They have a website with some pretty good pics, as well as a listing of all of the sodas that they offer. Here's the link:
For being a tired person, I certainly have rambled on long enough. I'm signing off for now...hopefully I'll have time to post tomorrow.

Paint, caulk, new kits, and a freebie!

Well, we went out and spent some big bucks on painting supplies at Walmart...I certainly hope that DH isn't getting in over his head. Or perhaps I should say I hope he knows what he's doing. This morning he pressure washed the house with his brand new pressure washer, and got the hose too close to the exhaust...can you guess what happened? That's right...he burned a hole through the hose. So we had to go searching for a replacement hose. But at least he managed to get it done. He spent the evening caulking around the windows and doors...maybe I should take pics of the globs of caulk everywhere! He's definitely better at working on the car than on the house. Oh well, at least it'll get done. Tomorrow we've got to cover the windows and then it's time to paint! I'll be SO glad to get that done. We'll get to the trim Monday, or it'll just wait until next weekend.
We went to Joe's Crab Shack for was good, and Rachel loved the entertainment! We got a big kick out of watching her...we were sitting near a disco ball that she was fascinated with, and when the staff started dancing to 'Car Wash', I thought she was going to get up out of her high chair and join in! She was wiggling in her seat and clapping right along.
On a downer note, mom's health insurance is going up AGAIN...she's going to go ahead and cancel it because there's just no way for her to manage paying it. Even if she could, the deductible is now so high that it's not really worth having. That is, if the cancer does not come back. I told her that I would support her decision, no matter what it is, but the truth is I'm really scared that she'll wind up with cancer again, and have no insurance. I know that MDAnderson offers aid, but still...
She's been cancer free for 7 years now, so I'm just praying that she'll stay that way.

I've been too busy with family stuff to do any scrapping today, but I'm hoping to get some done while DH is painting tomorrow. I did manage to work in PSE a little while yesterday afternoon...some brilliant person literally mowed down the Cox box near our house, so we lost our internet, cable, and phone for a couple of hours.

First post...

Well, my digi addiction has finally brought me to this...blogging. When I first ventured into the online scrap world in Feb of '07, I never imagined I'd get this involved. Now it seems like I'm looking at my entire life (well, most of it anyway, lol) through the lens of a camera...I could scrap this, that would make a good background texture, etc. DH bought me PSE 5 for Mother's Day this year, and got me a subscription to Atomic Cupcake a couple of weeks ago, so I've been doing more playing around than actually scrapping the past couple of weeks.

On the homefront, I'm homeSICK...I haven't been back to Texas since last Christmas and I miss it! Our trip to Houston was cancelled last weekend...tropical storm Erin was kind enough to damage our roof, so we chose to spend our money on repairs rather than a vacation. So now I've got to wait again...maybe I can get a laptop before go next time...ROFL...that's not gonna happen! I'll have to manage to go a week without scrapping, or even checking my's funny how something I didn't even have 10 years ago is now such a big part of my life.

I really do feel bad about not going home though...Ronnie's funeral was this morning, and I wish I could have been there out of respect for my aunt. There was just no way I felt that I could handle a 10 hour car trip with just me and Rachel. When she was an infant, she slept all the way down, but now, yikes!...she definitely gets bored in the back seat by herself.

Okay, Rachel's naptime is almost over, so I've got to get going. I'll be back later, hopefully with a goodie or too. Ciao for now!
